my approach

Hi, I’m Cat

I have collaborated with and consulted clinicians throughout my career, and I’m excited to now move into providing clinical supervision. My supervision approach emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, and the cultivation of a compassionate and ethical therapeutic presence. I deeply believe in fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment where supervisees feel empowered to explore their professional challenges and celebrate their successes.

Supervision with me is tailored to meet the unique needs of each clinician, whether they are newly licensed or seasoned professionals looking to expand their skill set. My approach is grounded in empathy, with a focus on the following:

  • Cultivating Clinical Competence: I support clinicians in building their therapeutic toolbox, enhancing their competency across a variety of therapeutic modalities while also encouraging creative and integrative approaches.

  • Encouraging Self-Reflection and Growth: Through reflective practice, I guide clinicians in exploring their own reactions, biases, and emotional responses to ensure they provide the best possible care to their clients.

  • Strengthening Ethical and Boundaried Practice: I emphasize the importance of maintaining ethical boundaries in therapy while fostering deep and meaningful connections with clients, helping supervisees navigate these sometimes complex professional dynamics.

  • Creating a Safe and Supportive Space for Professional Development: Supervision is a place to ask questions, take risks, and grow as a therapist. I strive to create an environment where supervisees feel valued and supported in their journey toward becoming more confident, reflective, and effective clinicians.

By blending my extensive clinical experience with a passion for mentorship, my goal is to help you thrive as a clinician, enhancing both your professional fulfillment and the quality of care you provide to your clients.

Things we’ll work on

Balance

Balancing the demands of therapeutic work with self-care is essential for long-term sustainability as a clinician. In supervision, we will explore ways to maintain professional and personal balance by integrating holistic approaches like mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and reconnection techniques. This balance supports emotional and physical well-being, helping clinicians stay grounded and present in their work.

Competency

Developing clinical competency is an ongoing process. We will focus on expanding your EMDR skills, including case conceptualization and target sequencing, while also refining your ability to address somatic symptoms and core beliefs. This will help ensure that your therapeutic interventions are both effective and aligned with your client’s needs, fostering deep and transformative healing.

Ethics

Ethical decision-making is a cornerstone of clinical practice. We'll focus on maintaining clear boundaries and understanding the ethical dimensions of complex cases, while also addressing core belief assessments. Through supervision, you'll learn to approach these ethical dilemmas with confidence and integrity, ensuring that you uphold the highest standards of care in your therapeutic work.

Self-Trust

Trusting your instincts as a clinician is crucial for fostering a therapeutic relationship that is both authentic and effective. In supervision, we will cultivate this trust by encouraging a reflective practice that integrates somatic experiencing and reconnection. Building self-trust empowers you to navigate challenging cases and therapeutic moments with confidence, enhancing both your growth and your client’s healing journey.

Preparation

Effective therapy requires thorough preparation. Supervision will help enhance your skills in case conceptualization, target sequencing for EMDR, and resource installation and development. By preparing with intention, you can ensure that each session is tailored to meet the needs of your clients, allowing for more impactful and meaningful therapeutic experiences.

Discipline

Discipline is key to maintaining consistency in clinical work and professional growth. Supervision will help reinforce the discipline necessary to stay motivated, follow through with case conceptualization, and thrive in private practice. This discipline is crucial for staying committed to professional development and continuously improving your therapeutic practice.
